Three Things to Know About The Vax Register
Pharmacists can now sign up to record vaccinations on the Australian Immunisation Register (AIR).
The AIR records vaccinations for people of all ages across their lifetime.
Here’s what you need to know:
- Vaccination data must be manually entered into the AIR.
- At this stage, pharmacists won’t be able to view a patient’s immunisation history.
- Recording by pharmacists is not compulsory in all states. However, pharmacists may be legally obligated to notify the patient’s GP when they administer a vaccination.
The Guild is currently working with the Department of Human Services to automatically integrate the AIR into dispensing software. It is hoped this will be completed in time for the 2018 flu season.
