Pharmacist and Guild Honorary Life Member, Amanda Galbraith is embarking on an international development project organised by the UN Women National Committee Australia, and supported by QUT Business School.amanda galbraith

The UN Women Trek for Rights Fiji 2018 will support UN Women’s objectives to empower women and girls across the Pacific through leadership training, financial literacy and ensure their safety whilst they provide for their families.

Galbraith states “I’ve often been astounded by the positivity of the Fijian people. They have less than us, but it always strikes me that they have more than we do. More smiles, more optimism, more family connection. I am hoping that whilst I raise money for them, they will raise me up as a person”.

As a pharmacy owner and leader in our industry, Amanda has mentored many female pharmacists on their way through professional and ownership challenges.

An active member of the Capital Chemist group, and supporter of the Positivity for Pharmacy Facebook group, Amanda believes that charity and community work with those less privileged is a critical part of professional life especially as a pharmacist.

“If we want to increase women’s participation, both in pharmacy in Australia, and more globally for those with less than us, we need to be actively involved in the solution. I would encourage all pharmacists, to look beyond their four walls and use the opportunities of their profession to help others.”

So far, Amanda has raised over $5500. More help is needed with corporate and personal donations encouraged. Please click here to donate today.
