PATY Judging Begins!

Nominations are now closed for the 2017 Pharmacy Guild of Australia/ Maxigesic Pharmacy Assistant of the Year Award – with more nominations and responses received than ever before. The award received 633 nominations, and over 40% response rate – breaking all previous records set.

The Pharmacy Guild of Australia National President, George Tambassis, said it was terrific to see 633 nominations this year.

“It’s great to see so many owners, pharmacists, managers, colleagues and customers recognise the work of dedicated pharmacy assistants throughout Australia, and wonderful to see so many nominating themselves”, Mr Tambassis said.

Judges are now busy reviewing and shortlisting all responses to find the top 20 finalists in each state and territory of Australia. Successful nominees will be asked to attend a state-based workshop, where they can showcase their passion, knowledge and leadership skills while learning from their peers and the profession.

From there, a State Winner will be chosen to represent their State or Territory at the National Finals held at the Pharmacy Assistant National Conference on the Gold Coast in October.

General Manager (Aust) of award sponsor AFT Pharmaceuticals Pty Ltd, Calvin MacKenzie said that the organisation is pleased to partner with The Guild to recognise and reward pharmacy assistants.

“Pharmacy assistants provide a vital link in our healthcare system, providing advice, care and support when we are at our most vulnerable.

“It’s important to acknowledge the vital role pharmacy assistants play within community pharmacies. This Award presents an opportunity to both celebrate and further develop their careers.”

“We look forward to meeting all the state finalists in the coming months,” Mr MacKenzie said.

The national winner will receive a $5,000 cash prize and a Guild Training course, among other great prizes. For more information, visit: pharmacyassistants.com/paty.
