PATY Awards – Top Pharmacy Assistants Named
The top 20 pharmacy assistants in each state and territory of Australia have been named, as part of the 2016 Pharmacy Guild of Australia / GuildSuper Pharmacy Assistant of the Year Award (PATY).
Pharmacy Guild of Australia Pharmacy Practice State Manager, and PATY National Judge, Kathy Knack said that this year, the calibre of nominees was particularly high.
“Over 580 pharmacy assistants were nominated for the award, and it was extremely hard to choose just 20 finalists for each state and territory.
“As a part of the application process, nominees are asked to answer a series of questions, relating to current trends and opportunities in pharmacy. The answers we received we just phenomenal – it is wonderful to see so many dedicated, creative and professional pharmacy assistants contributing to our industry,” Kathy said.
The Pharmacy Guild of Australia National President George Tambassis said that the award is now in its tenth year and is the largest national award to recognise and reward pharmacy assistants.
“There are over 35,000 pharmacy assistants in Australia. This award provides a public platform to recognise pharmacy assistants as professional and valued health care professionals, to employers, the community and the industry; and in doing so, highlights the rewarding career path of a pharmacy assistant,” George said.
Each of the State Finalists are invited to a Workshop Training Day in their capital city. From there, a State Winner will be chosen to represent their State or Territory at the National Finals held at the Pharmacy Assistant National Conference on the Gold Coast in October.
The National Pharmacy Assistant of the Year Winner will take home more than $10,000 in cash and prizes, including a Guild Training course of their choice so they can continue to progress their career.
