Outstanding APP2021 speaker line-up the best so far – 5 weeks to go!

Hon Steven Miles MP - Dr Jeannette Young - Professor Trent Twomey

Kos Sclavos AM, APP2021 Convenor and former Guild National President, said the line-up of speakers at this year’s Australian Pharmacy Professional Conference (APP2021) was one of the best that he’s seen in the 30-year history of the event.

APP2021, a COVID-Safe event, is Australia’s largest pharmacy conference and trade show and takes place on the Gold Coast in five weeks on 20-23 May 2021. It offers attendees a four-day educational program, exciting social activities and a trade exhibition showcasing the latest products, services and industry information.

“We’ve got some truly fantastic speakers this year, including those who have been leading Australia’s response to COVID-19,” Mr Sclavos said.
“Attendees will have the opportunity to hear from Hon Greg Hunt MP, Federal Minister for Health and Aged Care, and Hon Mark Butler MP, Shadow Minister for Health and Aged Care, in a face-to-face setting,” Mr. Sclavos said.

“Just recently, we’ve also announced that Queensland’s Chief Health Officer, Dr. Jeannette Young, will address the pharmacy industry at APP2021.” “Dr. Young has been in the role of Chief Health Officer for Queensland for over 15 years and has led the community selflessly through the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic, to ensure they are safe and healthy. This is a unique opportunity for the pharmacy industry to hear directly from several leaders.”

Other APP2021 speakers include Gary Mortimer, who will present on consumer behaviour in a post-COVID world and Craig James, the Chief Economist of CommBank, who will be speaking on the new Australian economy.

“These speakers will be very insightful when it comes to understanding what we as community pharmacies can expect as we move through the next phase of vaccinations and into the post-COVID period,” Mr. Sclavos said.

“I’m also looking forward to hearing from Australian Olympians Anna Meares OAM and Steven Bradbury OAM,” Mr. Sclavos said.
Mr Sclavos also addressed APP’s updated terms and conditions, which offer attendees more certainty around disruptions to plans caused by COVID-19 border closures or government restrictions.

“If you haven’t already registered, you can now book with confidence. If border control measures or government restrictions prevent you from attending you will have the option of receiving a full 100% refund or transferring your registration to another delegate, at no cost,” concluded Mr. Sclavos.

“I’m really looking forward to being able to attend APP2021 and see everyone face-to-face,” said Mr Sclavos. “We lost many opportunities to meet as an industry in 2020, and it will be great to be able to meet again, in person.”

Attendees can learn more about the program, COVID safe measures and secure their APP2021 registration at www.appconference.com.
