A New Age of Personalised Medicine at the 5th BioCeuticals Research Symposium

21 – 23 April, 2017

Hilton Hotel, Sydney

The future of personalised medicine is set to be a focus by world-leading functional medicine experts at the 5th BioCeuticals Research Symposium in April 2017, announced today by Australia’s leading provider of nutritional and therapeutic supplements, BioCeuticals.

The study of the human genome has opened a window, providing compelling insights into the relationship between an individual’s biological character and environmental influences. The concept of personalised medicine is now gaining traction as a unique and improved approach to practice, with decisions, practices, interventions and/or products being tailored to the individual patient based on their predicted response or risk of disease.

We know now that exposure to toxins, excess consumption of sugars and carbs, stress and other factors that typically are known to cause chronic illness are not the only cause for disease. Rather, through personalised medicine, we are learning that vulnerability to illness is largely dependent on how each individual deals and reacts to these factors.

Under the theme of The Age Of Personalised Medicine: Improved Clinical Insights for Better Patient Outcomes, the 5th BioCeuticals Research Symposium aims to be the event calendar highlight of the integrative medicine industry, reaching up to 500 delegates, and will see the new-age question answered – “why do some people get sick when exposed to certain risks, while others seem to be largely unaffected?”

Delegates will be able to learn how to move away from the “trial-and-error” approach that typically leads to patient dissatisfaction, and instead will learn how to distinguish between patients who are most likely to benefit from specific treatments, and patients who are not.

BioCeuticals Managing Director, Nathan Cheong, said the much celebrated three-day masterclass format will focus on how advances in functional medicine can be applied in clinic to support the individual needs of the patient.

“Personalised medicine is the new age of integrative healthcare. Research and clinical protocols are evolving rapidly. It is critical that integrative practitioners are able to apply this knowledge to suit the unique needs of their patients,” Mr Cheong said.

“We’re extremely excited to be hosting four renowned international speakers at the 5th BioCeuticals Symposium next April, which will offer integrative healthcare practitioners the opportunity to learn how to adapt new and proven clinical approaches in their practice.

“We hope the Symposium will further act as a portal for people who want up-to-date information of the latest advances in the field, and an opportunity to learn from the best in integrative medicine,” said Mr Cheong.

Recently BioCeuticals won the Complementary Medicines Australia (CMA) award for Most Outstanding Contribution to Research, Education or Training, and is excited to be offering delegates of the Symposium another opportunity to further excel in their education and training.
