Pharmacy of the Year finalists announced

The Pharmacy Guild of Australia has announced the five community pharmacies that are finalists in the 2020 Pharmacy of the Year competition.

The prestigious competition aims to find the country’s top pharmacy. It acknowledges the most innovative and adaptable pharmacy businesses that strive to serve the needs and preferences of patients and the community by providing comprehensive, holistic health services, medication advice, management and safety.

The awards are the benchmark for recognising excellence in the community pharmacy industry and recognise those community pharmacies that demonstrate excellence within their pharmacy and community and foster a culture of innovation and continued business and professional development.

Spokesperson for the judging group Nick Panayiaris, Pharmacy Guild of Australia National Councillor and President of the South Australian Branch of the Guild, said a feature of the competition was the continuing improvement in the level of innovation and patient centric services displayed each year.

“Once again this year the standard has continued to rise and the five finalists have shown foresight and adaptability in developing their pharmacies for growth, sustainability – and most importantly, improved outcomes for their patients,” he said.

The award is open to Pharmacy Guild members who can enter in the three categories:

• Business Management
• Community Engagement
• Professional Innovation

A different community pharmacy will be selected as the winner in each category, with the Guild Pharmacy of the Year for 2020 being selected from these three individual category winners.

The overall Guild Pharmacy of the Year winner will be announced at APP2020 being held on the Gold Coast from 19-22 March 2020.

The five finalists for the 2020 award are:

• Capital Chemist Chisholm, ACT
• Moama Pharmacy, NSW
• LiveLife Pharmacy Bowen, QLD
• Wheatbelt Health Centre Pharmacy, Northam, WA
• Wizard Pharmacy, Kalgoorlie, WA
