The Pharmacy Guild of Australia’s Pharmacy of the Year competition is the undisputed benchmark for recognising excellence in the community pharmacy industry. This competition aims to seek out highly motivated, innovative and adaptable pharmacy businesses that never sit still and strive to provide more health care in even more ways. If you are an exemplar of innovation, business management and community engagement and community pharmacists who excel in the leadership and transformation of their pharmacy business, we invite you to enter the 2017 competition.

Terms and conditions
1. Description of the Awards: The Pharmacy Guild of Australia Pharmacy of the Year Awards recognise and reward community pharmacy businesses who demonstrate excellence within their pharmacy and foster a culture of continued business and professional development. It is free to enter. There are three categories to be judged and of those three category winners, one is selected as the overall Guild Pharmacy of the Year. 2. Binding Agreement: In order to enter the Pharmacy of the Year competition (“Entrant/s”) must agree and comply with all the Terms and Conditions of Entry presented. Please read these Terms carefully as this is a legally binding agreement that the Entrant/s agrees to by submitting an Entry to the Competition. 3. Eligibility: Entry is only open to Australian residents who are current financial Guild Members and whose nominated pharmacy is financially accredited with the Quality Care Pharmacy Program (QCPP) or who become financial QCPP accredited during the competition period. Employees of the Pharmacy Guild of Australia and QCPP, and their immediate families, are ineligible. Previous Pharmacy of the Year Awards entrants, including winners, are also welcome to submit entries. 4. Categories: There are three awards plus on overall winner of the Guild Pharmacy of the Year: 1. Community Engagement 2. Business Management 3. Professional Innovation 4. Overall Guild Pharmacy of the Year Winner. 5. Submission of Entries: (a) the written submissions (“Entry” or Entries”) must be submitted online via the competition website at www.pharmacyoftheyear.com.au (b)Pharmacies entrants must first write a brief response to a short series of questions relating to their pharmacy. (c) Any entry sent without completing the online entry form will be deemed invalid. No responsibility will be accepted for incomplete, damaged or corrupt Entries. The Pharmacy Guild of Australia will not be held responsible for any non-receipt of Entries. (d) Entries will be received from 27 July until 30 September 2016 (e) Round 1 judging is based on the applications received. Round 1 is an abstract round. (f) Finalists will be announced in the week of 28 November 2016. Finalist judging involves a physical visit to each pharmacy premises and interviews with the pharmacy owner and other key identified staff within each pharmacy. (g) Finalist judging will occur from 28 November until 2 December 2016. (h) Following the finalist judging, a professional photo and video shoot in each of the finalist pharmacies will take place in January 2017. (i) Category winners will be advised of their win late December 2016. This information is confidential until the official announcement. (j) The official announcement of the category winners and overall winner is made at APP2017 on 9 – 12 March 2017. (k) Entrants must not use any intellectual property (including trademarks or copyright works) of the Pharmacy Guild of Australia. (l) No discussion or correspondence will be entered into with the judging panel by entrants after the competition closes. 6. Assessment of Entries: (a) the judging panel is coordinated by the Pharmacy Guild of Australia at its absolute discretion. Members of the judging panel are required to sign a confidentially agreement and declare any conflict of interest and withdraw from deliberations concerning those Entries. (b) All entries are assessed in accordance with the entry requirements as set out in this document. (c) All owners and management teams of pharmacy entries will be visited or teleconferenced by the judging panel to determine further detail. (d) Entries are assessed in each category to determine the Award Winners from each category. (e) The Award Winners from each category are then assessed by the judging panel to select an overall Pharmacy of the Year winner. (f) The Pharmacy Guild of Australia reserves the right to request additional information concerning any Entry, as deemed appropriate the Pharmacy Guild of Australia. (g) The Pharmacy Guild of Australia reserves the right to refuse to accept any Entry which does not comply with the Entry Guidelines or these Terms of which contravenes the Integrity of the Program. 7. Entrant’s Intellectual Property: (a) Entrants are solely responsible for the information to be disclosed as part of their entry (including, but not limited to, any intellectual property rights or confidential information). (b) Entrants warrant that they own or have the right to use any intellectual property comprised within their entry including the Entry Form Written Submission and Supplementary Materials and that no intellectual property or other rights of any third party will be infringed in submitting the entry or use by the Pharmacy Guild of Australia in accordance with the Terms. (c) Entrants will take sole responsibility for protecting their rights in any intellectual property to be disclosed as part of their entry. Entrants are reminded that disclosure of any intellectual property in the Entry without protection may compromise or invalidate those. (d) Completed entries are the property of the Pharmacy Guild of Australia and are not distributed to any third parties outside of the Pharmacy Guild of Australia.(8) Announcement and publication of Winners: The categories winners will be announced at the Australian Pharmacy Professional Conference (APP), Gold Coast, Queensland, 9-12 March 2017. (a) Winners share in a financial, marketing, travel and accommodation prize pool and receive a trophy to display in their pharmacy. The Pharmacy of the Year awards (prize money and trophies) are awarded to the pharmacy rather than individuals. (b) Travel and registration costs to the value of $3,300 are provided to each category winner to attend the award ceremony at the Australian Pharmacy Professional (APP) Conference on the Gold Coast 9-12 March 2017 in addition to the prize. (c) Each award is presented by a representative of the Pharmacy Guild of Australia and given to a representative or owner of the pharmacy. (d) Winners will support the Pharmacy Guild of Australia in promoting successful pharmacy businesses and the value of community pharmacy through relevant media, public presentations and advocacy opportunities for 12 months following the announcement. (e) The Pharmacy Guild of Australia may publish details about Category Winners and they may have ongoing exposure through Guild publications after participating in a professional photo-shoot. (f) Any or all of their Entries (including Written Submissions and other Supplementary Materials in any associated promotional material but excluding any commercial sensitive or confidential information marked ‘not for publication’. In any media including in print and on-line publications or magazines or on the Pharmacy Guild of Australia website. 9. Privacy: (a) The Pharmacy Guild of Australia collects, uses, discloses and otherwise handles the Entrants personal information in accordance with the terms of its Privacy Policy. (b) To protect Entrant’s privacy throughout the assessment process The Pharmacy Guild of Australia will not provide any information whatsoever about Entries to anyone other than the Entrant Contacts as specified on the Entry Form. The Primary Contact a specified on the Entry Form must be a company officer or employee of the pharmacy entering the Program. (c) The Pharmacy Guild of Australia will not publish the name of any Entrant nor disclose or reproduce any information from any Entry where that Entrant has not been selected for an Award in respect of that Entry. If an Entrant is not successful for an Award, than their details remain confidential. (d) Any commercially sensitive or confidential information should be omitted from the Written Submission submitted by the Entrant. All commercially sensitive or confidential information must be clearly marked ‘not for publication’ and submitted as an appendix. The Pharmacy Guild of Australia agrees to keep this information confidential and to use it for assessment purposes only. 10. Acknowledgements and Liability: (a) Entrant acknowledges that it has exercised its independent judgment in submitting the entry and has not relied on any representation by the Pharmacy Guild of Australia. Which is not stated expressly in these Terms or upon any descriptions, illustrations or specifications contained in any document including catalogues or publicity material produced by the Pharmacy Guild of Australia.
